At least 15 people, including four children, have been killed in a bus crash in Mexico, local authorities said.

At least 47 people were injured in the incident in the state of Narita on Mexico’s west coast, about 650 miles south of the US border.

According to prosecutors, the incident happened on a rural road on Friday.

Police said all the people on board were from León, Guanajuato state.

It’s not uncommon for friends and family to pool resources to rent a bus for a beach trip to Mexico.

Forty-five of those treated were hospitalized.

The circumstances under which this incident took place are being investigated.

Previous accidents in similar circumstances have been caused by poorly maintained vehicles, bad weather, substandard highways or speeding.
