Two people were arrested in Florida after one of them called 911 to get help moving their belongings from a burglarized home, authorities said.
Polk County officers responded to a home after receiving a 911 call Saturday, but no one spoke.
Officers concluded that no one lived there, but they found a male suspect and his girlfriend inside the home after entering through an unlocked door.
The woman told officers she had called 911 to help them move their belongings from the home they were burglarizing.
She also called to see if she could get a lift to the airport to spend the weekend in New York, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.
In a Facebook post, the office said: “Deputies assisted them with their luggage, and gave them a ride, but it wasn’t to the airport … it was to Polk Pokey.
“And they’re welcome to stay there all weekend. Polk-poke is a lot better than New York anyway.”
The sheriff’s office said officers were searching for the male suspect after security video identified him as the robber at a Dollar General store in Ponciana, 35 miles south of Orlando, where several robberies occurred earlier in the day. Items were stolen.
The male suspect was charged with shoplifting and burglary and residential burglary.
The female suspect was accused of burglary in a residence.
