A “drunk” man was arrested after allegedly urinating on an elderly woman in the business class section of a plane.

Indian police say the 34-year-old man was detained after the incident on an Air India flight from the southern city of Bengaluru. New York To New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the man’s father, speaking to Hindustan Times, termed the allegations as a “totally false case”.

She also claimed that her son “hadn’t slept for 30-35 hours” and fell asleep after drinking alcohol.

The alleged incident is said to have taken place in November last year, though Air India only filed a police complaint this week.

The company said the crew did not call the police upon landing in New Delhi because they believed the two men involved had settled the matter between them.

Meanwhile, Air India said it has issued a written notice and grounded one pilot and four cabin crew in connection with the incident.

The company faced criticism on social media for its decision to ban the man from flying with it for 30 days – a ban which activists said was not long enough.

The airline’s CEO and managing director, Campbell Wilson, said in a statement: “Air India recognizes that it could have handled these matters better in the air and on the ground and is committed to taking action. “
