Jair Bolsonaro supporters invade Brazil’s presidential palace and Congress in Brasilia | World News

According to eyewitnesses, supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the country’s presidential palace, congress and ministry buildings.

Images on social media showed what appeared to be thousands of people, many draped in the yellow and green of the Brazilian flag, climbing the steps of the National Congress building in the capital.

The supporters are understood to have broken the blockade set up by security forces and attacked the ministries building and Congress, the video shows.

According to CNN Brazil, protesters also attacked the car park of the Planalto Palace.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Silva is currently in the state of Sao Paulo on an official visit.
