Kyogre and Groudon have been challenging Pokemon Go players in five-star raids since December 2017, but in Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn next month, both are set to receive a core power boost.

Primal Reversion versions of Kyogre and Groudon – exclusive forms that debuted in the 3DS games Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire – will be available to all players participating in Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn, either based in Las Vegas or globally. – One week later game event.


Primal Surge Fields will be available to those participating in research task events, eventually competing in raids with Primal Groden and Primal Kyogre. Both Legends will also know unique moves when captured, with Primal Groden knowing the Charged Attack Precipice Blade and Primal Kyogre the Charged Attack Origin Plus.

If Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre is in a player’s party or is set as a Buddy Pokemon, certain types of Pokemon will receive boosts as long as Primal Reversion is active:

  • Primal Kyogre
    • Increases the attack of Water-, Electric-, and Bug-type Pokémon when in a party.
    • Boosts candy and experience points from captured Water-, Electric-, and Bug-type Pokemon when set to Buddy Pokemon
  • Primal Gruden
    • Increases the attack of Fire-, Grass-, and Ground-type Pokémon when in a party.
    • Increases experience points received from Candy and Catch Fire-, Grass-, and Ground-type Pokémon when set to Buddy Pokémon.

Pokemon Go is now available for both iOS and Android devices. Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas is scheduled at Sunset Park on February 18-19 from 10 AM to 6 PM PT, while Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn – Global is a week later, on February 25-26 from 10 AM to 6 PM PT.
