The death of a 20-year-old woman in India, who was hit by a car and dragged for miles, sparked riots and protests.

The woman was riding a scooter when the collision occurred on New Year’s Day in West Delhi.

His body was later found naked and badly injured after being dragged for several miles, local media reported.

Police said that the five occupants of the car who were going out for dinner have been arrested.

He has reportedly claimed that he was not aware of the gruesome reality of what transpired after the encounter.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called for “exemplary action” with “no leniency” against those responsible.

The woman’s mother has demanded a full investigation and justice for her daughter.

Amid strong protests by local people, Home Minister Amit Shah has directed Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora to conduct a full inquiry into the matter.
