Two helicopters collided near the Marine Theme Park in the Australian state of Queensland.

The collision happened at around 2pm local time, just outside SeaWorld on the Gold Coast, when the park was busy with families enjoying the summer school holidays.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau confirmed the mid-air collision was fatal.

Queensland Ambulance Service says 13 patients are being treated at the scene, while local media say four people have died in the incident.

ABC News reported that one of the helicopters had a SeaWorld logo on it and was able to land after the crash.

ATSB Chief Commissioner Angus Mitchell said investigators would begin arriving at the scene soon to find out what happened.
